Brian G. Cannell is a judge for the First Judicial District in Cache County, Utah. He was appointed by Governor Gary Herbert on August 30, 2013, and confirmed by the Utah State Senate on November 7, 2013.[1][2]

Biography
Cannell graduated magna cum laude and earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Utah State University. He earned his J.D. from University of Houston Law Center in 1996, where he graduated cum laude.[1]

2016
Utah held retention elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. The filing deadline for sitting judges seeking retention was April 15, 2016. Brian Cannell was retained in the Utah 1st District Court (Cannell Seat) election with 86.64 percent of the vote. [3]

Awards and associations
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Cannell provided pro-bono legal services to several nonprofit organizations, including: Utah Festival Opera Company, Willow Park Zoo Foundation, Bridgerland Applied Technology College Foundation, North Logan Parks Committee, Sunshine Terrace Foundation and Logan Rotary Club.[1]
