Kristina L. Earwood is a district court judge for the 30th Judicial District, which presides over Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties of North Carolina. She was first elected in 2010.[1] Earwood was re-elected to the 30th Judicial District in 2014, winning a term that expired on December 31, 2018.[2][3]

2010

Earwood was elected to the 30th Judicial District. She defeated David F. Sutton in the general election, winning 51.79% of the vote.[4]

Education

Earwood received her undergraduate degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2000 and her J.D. from the Regent University School of Law in 2003.[5][6]

Career

Before her election to the court, Earword was a partner at the firm of Lay and Earwood, P.A. in Waynesville, North Carolina. She also worked as an attorney in the Office of the Tribal Prosecutor on the Cherokee reservation and as a contract attorney for the Jackson County Department of Social Services.[6][7][8]
