James Garcia is a Republican political advisor. He has worked on Rudy Giuliani's 2008 presidential campaign as a regional field director. He has also worked as a director for both the Republican National Committee and the Republican Party of Colorado. Garcia served as Mitt Romney's field director and Colorado state manager in the 2012 presidential campaign. In the 2016 election cycle, Garcia was the political director for Chris Christie's PAC, Leadership Matters for America. He also worked as the political director for Christie's presidential campaign.
Career
In late 2005, James Garcia interned for former Texas Rep. Tom DeLay on DeLay's 2006 campaign. In 2006, Garcia joined Rep. Shelley Sekula Gibbs' (R-Texas) campaign as a field director. Gibbs lost the election for the 22nd district.[1]
From 2007 to 2008, Garcia worked as the regional field director for Rudy Giuliani's (R) 2008 presidential campaign.[2][3]
After Giuliani dropped out of the 2008 presidential race, Garcia was sent by the Republican National Committee (RNC) as regional manager for then-Sen. Saxby Chambliss's (R-Ga.) campaign in Georgia.[3] Then Garcia returned to Colorado to take up the position of victory director for the RNC and the Colorado Republican Party.[3][2] In 2010, Garcia was appointed deputy regional political director for the RNC in the Southeast region of the U.S.[4][2] At the same time, Garcia was the executive director of the Republican Party of Colorado, where he remained until 2011.[2][3][5]
During the 2012 election cycle, Garcia served as a national field director for presidential candidate Mitt Romney's PAC Romney for President. [6][7] In May 2012, Garcia headed to Colorado to be Romney's state manager there. [2][3]
Chris Christie presidential campaign, 2016
In January 2015, James Garcia joined Chris Christie's PAC, Leadership Matters for America, as the political director.[6][4][7][8]
On June 30, 2015, Chris Christie announced his 2016 presidential campaign.[9][10] It was announced on July 3, 2015, that Garcia would act as Christie's political director for the campaign.[11]
Christie suspended his presidential run on February 10, 2016.[12]
