Tami Harrill-Muniz was an incumbent member of and was candidate for the Trustee Area 2 on the Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees that was defeated in the general election on November 5, 2013.

Tami Harrill-Muniz is a customer service specialist that works for Foster Farms in Livingston. She is a third generation student Turlock Unified Schools and graduated from Turlock High School. She is married and has two sons that have graduated from or are attending TUSD. She was re-appointed to the board in February of 2010 for the second time after being defeated in the 2009 election.[1]

When asked about her campaign finance by the Turlock City News Muniz said "My Campaign is under $600 which has been mostly from my personal account. Other than that I have had donations from my Mom & Brother and a couple of friends."[2]

On November 3, 2009, three seats on the Turlock Unified School District Board of Education were up for election. Candidates Frank M. Lima, Eileen Hamilton, Grady L. Welch and Harinder Grewal defeated two challengers.

Demographics

Turlock underperforms the rest of California when measured on the basis of median household income, percentage of residents living below the poverty level, percentage of residents over the age of 25 with a high school diploma, and percentage of residents over the age of 25 with a Bachelor's degree. The median household income in Turlock was $50,862 compared to $61,632 for the state of California. 22.9% of Turlock residents aged 25 years and older attained a bachelor's degree compared to 30.2% in California. The US Census also showed the poverty rate in Turlock was 15.2% compared to 14.4% for the entire state. The US Census also found that 78.6% of Turlock residents aged 25 years and older attained a high school degree compared to a 92.3% in California.[6]
