William W. "Bill" Haury, Jr. is a Civil Division judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist on May 30, 2008 (effective July 1). He replaced retired Judge Barry E. Goldstein. He was re-elected to a new six-year term in 2016.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Haury received his B.S. degree (in business and marketing) from Boston College in 1976 and his J.D. degree from Pace University Law School in 1981.[5]

Career

Haury practiced medical malpractice and products liability law at a Manhattan firm until 1983. He then moved to Florida. In 1986, he started his own law firm in Ft. Lauderdale. He worked in that capacity until he was appointed to the circuit court in 2008.[5][2]

Florida's 20 circuit courts all had seats up for election in 2016. Of the 151 seats up for election, 125 saw only one candidate file for the election. The unopposed races were canceled and the sole candidates were automatically elected. Of the 26 opposed races, only 10 saw more than two candidates file. [6]
