JUNEAU, Alaska: Governor Sean Parnell has appointed Ken Kreitzer to serve on the Alaska Judicial Council.[1]

Kreitzer was chosen as the replacement for Don Haase who was Sean Parnell's previous nominee until he withdrew due to controversy.[1]

Ken Kreitzer's experience:

  • 25 years involved with public safety
-Police officer
-Firefighter
-Corrections officer
-Airport safety officer
  • A former legislative liaison for the Department of Corrections[1]

Another reason Kreitzer was considered was because he is from Southeast Alaska. This was important because the Alaska constitution calls for the council to consist of a geographically diverse group.[1]

The Alaska Legislature will still need to confirm Kreitzer's position.[1]
