Columbus, Ohio: The Ohio Democratic Party has filed suit in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas. The defendant? Governor John Kasich, whom the party accuses of not responding to requests for his calendars and therefore violating Ohio open records law. Their concern is that the governor has allocated time on the job or resources to campaign for Gov. Mitt Romney for president.[1]

Kasich's spokesperson, Rob Nichols, says that the governor has responded appropriately to all requests, has handed over copies of his schedule six times, and has given one to the Ohio Democratic Party. He later went on to say that the Democrats have filed 40 requests in the last three months.[1]

In Ohio, with its coveted electoral votes, the presidential campaign season increases political tensions across the state. Nichols responded to the suit by claiming that it was election year politics, implying the administration's nonchalance.[1]
