Joseph J. Maltese was a judge for the 2nd Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. He assumed office in 2014. He left office on December 31, 2024.

Education

Maltese attended City University of New York and earned an undergraduate degree in 1970. In 1973, he received his J.D. from New York Law School. He then attended New York University and earned an M.A. in 1991. In 1998, he received his master of judicial studies from the University of Nevada. He went on to study at Touro College where he received an M.A. degree in science in 2003.[1]

Maltese was elected without opposition to the supreme court on November 8, 2011. He was endorsed by the Republican, Democratic and Conservative parties to replace retired Judge Philip G. Minardo.[2][3]
