The Alabama Municipal Economic Development, Amendment 37, also known as Amendment 37, was on the ballot in Alabama on November 30, 1965, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that the cities of Addison and Lynn in Winston County would be authorized to purchase and manipulate all kinds of property for the purpose of promoting the economic development. The cities would be authorized to invest, lend credit or grant public money for such endeavors. Furthermore, they would be authorized to levy and collect an ad valorem tax for the payment of securities. The above economic development must be first approved by a majority of electors in each city.[1]
