The Louisiana Transportation Fund Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Louisiana on October 7, 1989, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. It proposed to create a transportation trust fund that would be funded by the gasoline tax. The funds would be dedicated to highways. In addition, it proposed to ban a state sales tax on gasoline.[1][2]
