Richard Callahan
Richard Callahan is a U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri. He was confirmed in 2010.[1]
Career
Prior to his appointment, he served on the Circuit Court of Cole County in Missouri.[2]
Ruling on Governor e-mails
On July 11, 2008, Judge Callahan threw out a case seeking access to Governor Matt Blunt's e-mails. He found that the special investigator assigned to look into gaining access to Blunt's records "lacked standing to bring the suit to gain access".[3]
Ruling on open records
In a May 2008 case--brought by businesses that purchase public records about Missouri vehicle and driver's license records--Callahan has indicated that he believes a recent administrative decision by the state of Missouri to charge $7.00 (up from $1.25) for each copied record probably does not comport with Missouri's sunshine laws.[4]
