Gene Hamilton
Gene Hamilton was a circuit court judge for the 13th Circuit Court in Missouri.[1]
Retirement
Hamilton announced that he would retire from the court on June 30, 2010,[2][3] but later revised his end date to September 30, 2010 in order to allow his successor to be appointed rather than elected. "By Missouri election law, if my resignation is effective as of June 30, 2010, the political party committees will select the candidates to run in the general election of 2010 without any choice of the voters in a primary election. If my resignation is effective as of September 30, 2010, the Governor will select my successor, but that person, as well as any other interested person, can file for the office and run in the primary election in 2012," said Hamilton. His retirement from the office of presiding judge remains March 26, 2010.[4]
