The Judicial Update

November 15, 2011

Michigan: Chief Judge Julie Creal has announced her resignation from the 15th Judicial District Court in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has been on medical leave since August, due to a recommendation from her doctors, though details of her condition have not been made public. Creal was first appointed to this court in March of 1999. Her resignation takes effect on January 12, 2012.

The fate of the vacant seat is in the hands of Gov. Rick Snyder. He can either appoint a new judge to serve the rest of Creal's term or leave the seat vacant in order to save the state money.[1][2]
