Jackson was nominated on September 25, 2003, by President George W. Bush to a seat on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia vacated by Judge Mildred M. Edwards. Hearings on Jackson's nomination were held before the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs on October 5, 2004, and his nomination was discharged by the unanimous consent of the committee on October 11, 2004. Jackson was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on November 21, 2004, and he received his appointment to the court in 2005. He has served as a senior judge on the court since 2017.[1][2]
