2019 Chicago Candidates Invited to Constituent-Created Survey

Middleton, Wis. - January 2, 2019: Ballotpedia’s candidate survey is now accepting responses from the 2019 Chicago candidates.

While Ballotpedia has been producing a candidate survey since 2015, this year the organization teamed up with three organizations to produce a special survey specifically for the 2019 Chicago elections.

Through a partnership with the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, Interactivity Foundation, and City Bureau, Ballotpedia heard from more than a hundred diverse citizens about the questions they had for their city’s candidates. The residents then voted on the questions to make it clear what topics mattered most to them. The resulting survey includes questions about the issues affecting everyday life in Chicago.

“We want Chicago citizens to feel confident in their decisions when they head to the polling place this spring,” said Daniel Anderson, Ballotpedia’s Elections Editor. “If residents can see how a candidate plans to act on the topics that are important to them, they are more likely to vote, and feel good about voting.”

Responses to the survey will appear on Ballotpedia.org and be featured in social media and emails to subscribers. They will also be provided upon request to partner organizations to share with their own readers.

Ballotpedia, the McCormick Foundation, the Interactivity Foundation, and City Bureau hope this results in a higher quality of political discourse in Chicago. Their ultimate objective is to see greater engagement in the democratic process by Chicagoans.
