PHOENIX, Arizona: Organizers of a veto referendum in the state have until the end of July 19 to turn in the required amount of signatures for 2012 ballot access. The referendum would repeal parts of Senate Bill 1200. The bill essentially eliminates the right to a trial jury for those who have been accused of driving while intoxicated.

According to the Secretary of State's office, since the measure is a veto referendum, supporters must collect a total of 86,405 signatures. The referendum is being proposed by the group called Committee for the Right to Jury Trial. The date that the referendum was filed with the Arizona Secretary of State was May 5, 2011.
