A Banks School District Bond Measure was on the May 15, 2012 ballot in the Banks school district area which is in Washington County.
This measure was approved
- YES 737 (50.31%)
- NO 728 (49.69%)[1]
This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $10.5 million in order to help pay for construction and renovations of the Junior High school in the district.[2] This was the fourth attempt by the district to get money to fix these problems. School officials had noted that the condition of the buildings had continued to degrade to a point where it is almost unsafe for students to be in certain areas. Since it was approved, an addition of $.15 per $1,000 of assessed value will be added to the local property tax rate for the life of the bond.[3]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
Shall District construct/renovate Junior High, replace, renovate and maintain District facilities by issuing general obligation bonds not exceeding $10,500,000? If the bonds are approved, they will be payable from taxes on property or property ownership that are not subject to the limits of sections 111 and 11b, Article XI of the Oregon Constitution.[4] |
