A Castle Rock City Transportation Sales Tax measure was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Cowlitz County, which is in Washington, where it was approved.
This proposition authorized the City of Castle Rock Transportation Benefit District to impose a sales and use tax of 0.02% for ten years or the time it takes to pay the debt from transportation improvements.[1]

Language on the ballot:
| “ | City of Castle Rock Proposition 1 Sales and Use Tax for Transportation Improvements The Castle Rock City Transportation Benefit District is authorized to request voter approval of and thereafter impose and collect a sales and use tax in accordance with RCW 82.14.0455 to fund transportation improvements. This proposition would authorize a sales and use tax of up to two tenths of one percent (0.002) to be collected from all taxable retail sales and uses within the district in accordance with RCW 82.14.0455 for a term of ten years or the time necessary to pay the debt servicing or financing as required by RCW 36.73.170, which ever period is longer, for the purpose of paying the costs of transportation improvements identified in section 2 of the resolution.
