The Lehigh Acres Fire Service Fee was not on the December 2009 ballot in Lee County for voters in the City of Lehigh Acres.

The measure had proposed a $100 parcel tax that would have provided new revenue for the fire district in the town. Supporters of the fee said that the funds would help the ailing fire district and possibly help prevent layoffs and closing of stations. The fee was proposed after a 3 mill levy was approved due to declining property values and thus reduced revenue from the newly approved millage rate.[1]

On August 6, 2009 the Lehigh fire panel voted 3 to 2 to hold a special election on the fee. The date for the special election has not yet been selected but was thought to be held in December 2009.[2]
