An Orting School District Levy Replacement measure was on the February 14, 2012 ballot in the Orting school district area which is in Pierce County.

This measure sought to replace the current school levy which is set to expire with one set at a rate of $3.99 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further two years in order to continue to pay for general education programs and operational costs in the district.[2]

The question on the ballot:

The Board of Directors of Orting School District No. 344 adopted Resolution No. 2.11-12 concerning education funding. If approved, Proposition No. 1 would authorize the District to levy the following excess taxes, to replace an expiring levy, on all taxable property within the District, to support the District's educational maintenance and daily operations, including teachers, staff, classroom materials and textbooks: Collection Year: 2013-2014; Approximate Levy Rate Per $1000 of Assessed Value: $3.99; Levy Amount: $3,819,000. All as provided in Resolution No. 2.11-12. Should Proposition No. 1 be approved?[3]
