There was a Point Robert Park and Recreation Property Tax proposition on the November 3 ballot in Whatcom County.

The measure was approved.[1]

  • Yes: 231 (76.24%)Approveda
  • No: 72 (23.76%)

This proposition will enact a tax of $.0825 that will be added to the current rate of property taxes in the district area. The money generated from this tax will be used to operate and maintain the Point Robert Park and Recreation area.[2]

The ballot read:

"PROPOSITION NO. 1 POINT ROBERTS PARK AND RECREATION DISTRICT #1 Shall a tax, of approximately $0.0825 (eight and ¼ cents), per thousand dollars of assessed valuation (based on 100% of true and fair value) to provide $42,000 (forty-two thousand dollars) for operation and maintenance purposes be levied for the Point Roberts Park and Recreation District #1 in 2009 for collection in 2010 and 2011 upon all taxable property within the District, all as specified in Point Roberts Park and Recreation District #1, Resolution One?"[3]
