St. Charles County Smoking Ban Amendment Question (November 2012)

Two St. Charles County Smoking Ban Amendment questions was not on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in St. Charles County, which is in Missouri.
If approved, the first question would have amended the County Charter of St. Charles to ban smoking in all enclosed public places and enclosed workplaces in the County.
If approved, the second question would have provided for exceptions to the smoking ban for twenty percent of hotel rooms, private clubs and enclosed, over-21-only places. These exceptions would have included the Ameristar Casino and many bars.[1]
Path to the ballot
On August 27, 2012 the County Council voted 4-2 to place the two smoking-related questions on the ballot.[2]
On September 25, 2012 St. Charles County Circuit Judge Ted House upheld county Elections Director Rich Chrismer's decision to remove the county's smoking ban proposal from the Nov. 6 ballot because of confusing language.[2]
