Stevens County Sales Tax Use Question (February 2010)
There was a Stevens County Sales Tax Use Question measure on the February 9 ballot in Stevens County.
This measure was defeated by county voters, though their vote does not officially mean this tax will not be levied.
- YES 4,308 (32.54%)
- NO 8,932 (67.46%)
[1]
This measure was an advisory question that asks voters if the county should implement a increase of the sales tax by 1/10th of 1 percent in order to help fund the operation and delivery of chemical substances for the mentally ill in mental health programs. [2]
While listed as an official question, the official ballot that was sent out did not contain the correct numbers so this question will not be counted as a vote by citizens. It was advisory anyways, so the county commissioners will make the decision about the increase for the mental health issues.[3]
