A Yakima City Strong Mayor Question was on the February 8, 2011 ballot in the city of Yakima which is in Yakima County.

This measure was defeated

  • YES 7,035 (47.58%)
  • NO 7,750 (52.42%)Defeatedd[1]

This measure sought to create a strong Mayoral position in the city instead of the current system which has a manager run the city with an elected council. This new system would have created a Mayor position which is directly elected by the people. Proponents noted that with an elected position the person would be more accountable to the people. The city council had to decide between two submitted proposals for the ballot language.[2]
