The goals of this project are twofold:

  1. To standardize and update State Supreme Court (SSC) pages across the wiki.
  2. To standardize and update SSC justice pages across the wiki.

Project goals

In some ways, this project will always be ongoing, since new judges are appointed and elected regularly across the nation.

The goals of this project are similar whether a judge is newly appointed/elected or already serving in office.

Infobox Template

This infobox will appear in the top left hand portion of each judge's page on the wiki. It allows a user to quickly and easily access critical information.

This template will fill in all information that is included and exclude any categories of information that are not included. The only required categories are Name and Court. Information included in capital letters indicates the format for the information to be included on the page. Linking tags and image tags are deliberately excluded on many items because they have already been included in the template format. The entire template above should be copied and pasted into every judge page so that future additions can be made with ease. A completed example of this template can be seen by clicking on the "Example page" tab above.

Categories

All judge pages should include a number of categories. Those are:

  1. The classification category, which includes the state and court served on. Examples are:

NOTE: In the summer of 2012, judges on IAC courts with multiple divisions will need to have their categories updated before adding the judges' table to the court pages. Those states are:

  • California
  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Louisiana
  • Michigan
  • Ohio
  • Texas
  • Wisconsin

  1. The term expiration category, which includes the year and state. This category helps alert contributors to when a judge is eligible for re-election. Examples are:

  1. If a judge was appointed by a governor, include the governor appointment category and the appointed judges category. Examples are:
  1. If a judge has served as on any other courts, include the category for service on that/those court(s).

and

  1. If a judge has announced his or her retirement, include the retiring judges category. Examples are:

We are attempting to assemble photos for all judges on each SSC. For information on the status of a specific state, refer to Judgepedia:Image permissions.
