Murphy's campaign website listed the following themes for 2016:

As a Deputy, a sports official, and a trained social services provider, I am known for being honest, fair, and compassionate, and I would like to use those qualities as your next Wood County Magistrate. My training in both school and career has prepared me for this duty as I have a detailed working knowledge of the local court system and an ability to work fairly with all persons I meet. I know what's important in life: family, hard work, and community. In considering your choice for Wood County Magistrate - Division 4, I humbly ask for your support and your vote. [2]
