Brad Neuenswander
Brad Neuenswander was the Acting Commissioner of Education in Kansas from April 2014–July 2015. Neuenswander, the state's deputy education commissioner, stepped in after former officeholder Diane DeBacker resigned to become an adviser to the director general of the Abu Dhabi Education Council in the United Arab Emirates.[1][2] The Kansas Board of Education hired Randy Watson to formally succeed DeBacker as commissioner, effective July 1, 2015, at which time Neuenswander returned to his job as deputy commissioner.[3]
Biography
Neuenswander is a former superintendent of the Cheney and Ellis school districts. He worked seven years in the state department of education, serving as deputy commissioner for the last three leading up to his appointment as interim commissioner in April 2014.[1]

Acting Kansas Commissioner of Education (2014-2015)
Neuenswander was made acting commissioner of education in April 2014. He filled the role temporarily while the Kansas State Board of Education searched for a new permanent commissioner to replace Diane DeBacker. DeBacker resigned as state education commissioner in 2014 to take a job as an education adviser in the United Arab Emirates.[1]
