Bud Wiesedeppe announced his candidacy for the second seat on the Texas Fourteenth District Court of Appeals in the 2016 elections. Incumbent Justice Sharon McCally announced that she would not seek re-election in 2016, leaving her seat open.[1] Wiesedeppe was defeated by Kevin Jewell in the primary.

Previously, Wiesedeppe was a judicial candidate for Texas District 164 in 2012. He works as a private practice attorney.[2]

Education

Wiesedeppe received his B.S. in philosophy and political science from Kansas State University in 1994 and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1997.[3][2]

Wiesedeppe has worked as an attorney at Woodfill & Pressler, L.L.P. since 1997.[2]

Wiesedeppe ran for the seat on the Texas Fourteenth District Court of Appeals left vacant by outgoing Justice Sharon McCally.[1] He was defeated by fellow Republican Kevin Jewell in the Republican primary. Jewell will face Democratic candidate Candance White in the general election.

Wiesedeppe ran for election to the 164th District Court and defeated challenger Sophia Mafrige in the May 29, 2012 primary election.[4] Wiesedeppe faced incumbent Alexandra Smoots-Hogan in the general election and was defeated.[5][6]
