One of the five seats on the Sarasota County Schools school board was up for at-large primary election on August 30, 2016. In her bid for re-election, District 2 incumbent Caroline Zucker defeated newcomer Teresa Mast. The District 3 seat was originally set to be on the primary ballot, but newcomer Eric Robinson was unopposed when he filed for the seat after one candidate did not qualify and the other candidate withdrew. Robinson was elected automatically when the county's filing deadline passed.[1]
