Gary Mason held an at-large seat on the Randolph County Schools Board of Education in North Carolina. He initially filed for re-election, but withdrew from the general election on November 4, 2014. Mason was elected to the board in 2010.

They ran against challengers Brian Biggs, Fred Burgess, Rodney Chriscoe, John L. Crawford, Jennifer Leister, Terry Linthicum, Grace Steed, Douglas R. Vickers, Joan P.Wall and Robert L. Youngblood.
