Katherine E. Weber is the Position 5 judge on the Clackamas County Circuit Court in Oregon. The court has jurisdiction over Clackamas County and is located within the 5th Judicial District. She was appointed to the position in January 2010 by Governor Ted Kulongoski. She won election to a full term in the seat in the 2010 election cycle.[1][2]

Weber won re-election to a second consecutive term without opposition in the primary election on May 17, 2016.

Selection method

Judges of the Oregon Supreme Court, Oregon Court of Appeals and Oregon Circuit Courts are all selected in an identical manner. They are chosen in nonpartisan elections to serve six-year terms, after which they must run for re-election if they wish to continue serving.[3]

The chief judges of the circuit courts are appointed by the chief justice of the state supreme court to serve a two-year term.[3]

Qualifications
To serve on the circuit court, a judge must be:[3]

  • a U.S. citizen;
  • a state resident for at least three years;
  • a resident of his or her circuit for at least one year;
  • a state bar member; and
  • under the age of 75.

2010

Weber was up for election to the Clackamas County Circuit Court in 2010. She ran unopposed, winning with 98.33% of the vote.[4]

Education

Weber earned her B.A. in political science and Spanish from the University of California, Berkely, in 1990. She received her J.D. from the Willamette University College of Law in 1994, along with a Certificate of Dispute Resolution.[2]
