Elections
2017
Four of seven seats on the McKinney Independent School District board of trustees were up for general election on May 6, 2017. Three of these seats were elected by district, and one seat was elected at large. Incumbent Maria McKinzie filed for re-election in Place 1. McKinzie faced challenger Rory Payne who filed as a write-in candidate for that seat, but Payne withdrew his nomination on February 22, 2017. McKinzie was automatically re-elected. Kenneth Ussery defeated Clayton Myhre for the open Place 2 seat after the incumbent chose not to seek another term. Place 3 incumbent Kathi Livezey was unopposed in her re-election bid.
