Stephen Munsinger
Stephen Munsinger was the chief judge of the First Judicial District Court in Colorado. The court presides over Jefferson and Gilpin counties. He was appointed to the office by former Governor Bill Owens in July 2001, and was appointed chief judge in August 2011.[1][2][3] Munsinger was retained in 2010 and his last six-year term was set to expire in January 2017.[4][5] He retired early from the bench on November 17, 2014.[6]
Education
Munsinger received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Colorado Law School in 1971.[3]

Military service
After graduating from Kansas State University, Munsinger served in the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of captain in Field Artillery and Aviation.[3]

Munsinger was retained to the First Judicial District Court with 64.57% of the vote in 2010.[7]
