William N. Sterling is a former judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California, serving on the court from 2001 to 2020. Sterling was first appointed to the court by former governor Gray Davis on October 3, 2001 to succeed Kathryn Doi Todd.[1][2] He was re-elected in 2014 for a six-year term.[3][4] Sterling retired before the end of his term on June 29, 2020.[5]

Sterling received a bachelor's degree from Temple University and a J.D. from New York University.[6]
Career
Prior to becoming a judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, Sterling worked for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office supervising the Hollywood division.[1]
