Julie Bocanegra is the District 1 representative on the Evergreen Public Schools school board in Washington. She was initially appointed to the position in 2012. Bocanegra won a new term in the by-district general election on November 7, 2017.
Biography
Bocanegra's professional experience includes managing two branches of the Columbia Credit Union. She has also served as the chair of the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce.[1]

2017
Two of the five seats on the Evergreen Public Schools school board in Washington were up for by-district general election on November 7, 2017. A primary election was held for both seats on August 1, 2017, because more than two candidates filed for each seat.
District 1 board member Julie Bocanegra defeated newcomer Megan Miles in the general. They both fended off Dennis Jeppson in the primary. In District 5, Ginny Gronwoldt defeated Park Llafet in the general. They competed in the general by defeating James (Jimee Tee) Taylor and Janelle Tuominen in the primary.[2]

Funding
Bocanegra opted for mini reporting in this election, according to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission.[3] Candidates who opted for this had to keep a record of their contributors and expenditures, but were not required to report them. If they raised and spent more than $5,000 in aggregate or received more than $500 from any one contributor, including themselves, they would have had to switch their filing status from mini to full reporting.[4]

Bocanegra sought her first full term on the board against challenger Daniel Poletti on November 5, 2013.
