David A. Thompson was a judge for the 4th District Division 3 of the California Court of Appeal. He assumed office on June 28, 2012. He retired on October 15, 2021.[1]
He was appointed to the court by Governor Jerry Brown on May 18, 2012, and was confirmed by the California Commission on Judicial Appointments on June 28, 2012. He replaced Kathleen O'Leary when she became the presiding justice of the court.[2][3]
Education
Thompson received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1980 and his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law in 1983.[2]

Thompson ran for re-election to the Superior Court of Orange County in 2012. As an unopposed incumbent, his name did not appear on the ballot. After the primary election, Thompson was automatically re-elected.[5]
