Abraham Clott
Abraham Clott is a judge for the New York City Criminal Court of New York County, New York. He joined this court as an interim civil court judge in 2004 and was appointed a criminal court judge in January of 2007. He was reappointed in 2009 and 2019.[1][2][3]
Education
Clott received his bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago in 1977 and his J.D. from New York University in 1980.[1]
Career
Clott began his career in 1980 as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Joseph Blumenfeld of Connecticut. The following year, he joined the law firm of Sonnenschein, Carlin, Nath & Rosenthal, where he worked as an attorney until 1983. He then served as an attorney in the Criminal Appeals Bureau of The Legal Aid Society until 1987. That year, he joined the Federal Defender Division, where he served in the Appeals Bureau (1987 - 1992) and then the Federal Defender Division for the Eastern District of New York (1992 - 2003). His judicial career began in 2004, when he was appointed an interim criminal court judge. He was appointed a permanent judge in 2006.[1]
