Education
Nichols earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 1987 and a J.D. from the University of Florida in 1991.

Prior to her 2014 appointment to the Seventh Circuit, Nichols worked as an assistant public defender in the Seventh Circuit and worked in private practice in Daytona Beach. She is board certified in marital and family law. She currently hears family cases at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand, Florida.
