Joan S. Posner

Joan Posner is a judge for the Dutchess County Family Court in New York. She has served in this position since 2009, following her election.[1]
Education
Posner received her B.S. degree from Cornell University in 1970 and her J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law in 1975.[1]
Career
Posner began her career in 1975 as a staff attorney for Mid-Hudson Legal Services, Inc. She then worked as a managing attorney for Prisoners' Legal Services of New York from 1980 to 1983. From 1986 to 1988, she was a consulting attorney for Battered Women's Services. She then served as the principal court attorney for the Hon. Damian Amodeo, judge of the Dutchess County Family Court and Acting Justice of the Supreme Court. In 2009, Posner joined the Family Court bench herself.[1]
