I am an exceptionally-experienced trial lawyer having served 20+ years as a Criminal Trial Prosecutor as well as 10+ years as a private practitioner in both the state and federal courts. For the last 10+ years, I was a Deputy Attorney General prosecuting crimes against seniors and healthcare fraud – handling cases from investigation through trial as well as appeal. Previously, I was a Deputy District Attorney having prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases, from Murder, Sexual Assaults and Drug Trafficking to Theft and DUI. I have tried over 100 cases to verdict, 75 of those to a jury. In between my two positions as a public prosecutor, I started and ran my own private law practice where, amongst a broad array of work, I represented small businesses and individuals, including law enforcement and other first responders. A Duke Law graduate, I started my legal career in a major international law firm. I have now returned to private practice as the Chief Trial Counsel for a San Diego law firm (Cage & Miles) where I am Chief Trial Counsel overseeing the firm’s court case strategy and preparation, training and mentoring of the firm’s lawyers while developing new areas of practice, including the civil prosecution of Elder Abuse matters and professional licensing defense. I am a proud Veteran having served as a United States Naval Aviator and deployed with the USS Midway battlegroup.
  • An unparalleled breadth and depth of experience along with unmatched academic pedigree that represents an enormous value-add to the San Diego Superior Court Bench.
  • Strict adherence to the rule of law while ruling with compassion, understanding and respect for all individuals. Ethically above reproach for 31 years.
  • Unusually broad support across the entire spectrum of both the legal and law enforcement profession as well as the broader community of San Diego.
The effective, efficient, fair, and unbiased administration of the Justice system.
As a gardener/helper for local neighbors which I did for about 2 years starting in 5th grade.
Yes, I have been rated "Well Qualified" by the San Diego County Bar Association - the only candidate to receive this high a rating and the highest rated candidate for this seat.
Initially, I was asked to run for this seat by the Judge whose seat it was until his very recent retirement from the bench. I agreed to run because I could not walk away from a court system that is in near crisis due to its backload - a system that I am passionate about - while recognizing that my unique depth and breadth of experience represents an enormous potential help to that system.
