15 applicants for Indiana Supreme Court announced

Indianapolis, Indiana: Friday afternoon, the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission announced the fifteen applicants seeking to fill retiring Chief justice Randall Shepard's soon-to-be-vacated seat on the Supreme Court.[1][2][3][4] Seven women and eight men applied for the position; six are judges, and the rest are attorneys.[2] The judges who have applied for the position are as follows:

The attorneys applying for the position are Mark S. Massa of Indianapolis, Patricia C. McMath of Indianapolis, Karl L. Mulvaney of Indianapolis, Rory O’Bryan of Indianapolis, Mary K. Reeder of Indianapolis, Steven R. Schultz of Columbus, Jane A. Seigel of Indianapolis, Les C. Shively of Evansville, and Rebecca A. Trent of West Lafayette.[1]

Initial interviews of the applicants by the judicial nominating commission will take place February 8th and 9th; second interviews will be conducted on February 22nd. The three most qualified candidates will then be sent to Governor Mitch Daniels, who will make the final decision. The nominating commission will then choose the next Chief Justice some time after March 4, 2012.[1][2]
