He previously served as a judge on the court before his defeat in the 2010 election.[2]

Alonso ran for election to the Bexar County Court at Law No. 1.
Primary: He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 48.9 percent of the vote. He competed against John D. Fleming. [1][3][4]

Alonso was defeated by Republican John D. Fleming in the general election.[2]
