What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
-Taking on bullying in our schools by both staff and students. -Reduce administrative spending and reverse the cuts made to instructional spending. - Improve engagement between the Board of Trustees and the Duncanville ISD Community.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about education and healthcare. The reason for my passion with education is that I have been fortunate in having fantastic teachers during my academic career, and I've spent 3 years fighting for students needs as a member of North Lake College's Student Government. I want current and future students to receive the same quality education that I got. As for healthcare, I spent a significant amount of my youth dealing with health problems, and fortunately I was covered by Medicaid. Without this, I would have been without treatment for numerous problems and would have suffered for it. I want to ensure that my fellow citizens are able to seek treatment without the fear of financial ruin.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to Beto O'Rourke. His authenticity and ability to talk with everyone he meets is something I wish to emulate in my political life.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
The most important attributes that an elected official must hold are honesty, sincerity, and humility - be honest about beliefs and situations, sincere in their desire to improve their community, and humility to admit they do not have all the answers.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I have unbound energy, passion to make my community better, and a desire to connect with my neighbors to find an agreeable solution.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job was delivering a weekly neighborhood newspaper. Even though I was delivering for nearly two years, I don't remember ever actually reading what was on the paper.
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
My favorite holiday is Christmas. The decorations delight, the food is filling, and getting cozy under a blanket while snow falls outside is an unparalleled feeling. I enjoy getting to catch up with family and reflect on the year that has passed.
