April Johnson was a candidate for the Seat D position on the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board up for general election on October 1, 2013. She was defeated in the election by Allyson Lambert.

Johnson is a parent of one child in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. She has served on the Thrivalaska’s Head Start board and its policy council for the past three years, her term expires later this year, but she plans on continuing to serve on the policy council.[1]

Johnson was defeated in the October 1, 2013 election for Seat D, placing third behind Allyson Lambert and Charlie Leonelli.[2]

2013

In an interview with the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, Johnson explained her view on the district's most pressing issues:[4]

"I think the biggest is the budget, specifically, all the teachers that were laid off and the increased class sizes that resulted from it this year. Working to resolve it, taking a look at the budget and seeing where things can be moved around to get teachers back on staff more than they had to hire this year and just looking to see that not happen again."
