Asim Haque was the chair of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission (PUCO) from 2016 to 2019. He served on the PUCO from 2013 to 2019. Haque was appointed to the commission by Governor John Kasich (R) in 2013 and appointed to a second term in 2016.[1] In May 2016, Haque was named chair of the commission after Andre Porter stepped down.[2] Haque stepped down from the PUCO on March 1, 2019, to work in the private sector.[3]

A lawyer by trade, Haque began his professional career at Ice Miller LLP (f/k/a Schottenstein, Zox & Dunn Co. LPA), working on energy and utility matters. In this capacity, he represented a number of clients before the PUCO. Haque then went on to serve as legal counsel for Honda North America, Inc. in the area of energy and utility space.[1]

Ohio Public Utilities Commission (2013-2019)

Haque served as a member of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission from 2013 to 2019. He was chair from 2016 to 2019. Haque was originally appointed to replace Andre Porter, who resigned to become director of the Ohio Department of Commerce.[1] Porter returned to the commission as chairman in 2015 until resigning the following year to enter the private sector. Upon Porter's second resignation, Haque was selected to replace Porter as chair of the commission.[2]

Haque stepped down from the PUCO on March 1, 2019, to work in the private sector.[3]
