This week's question was, What percentage of recall efforts in 2023 have been directed at school board members?

You answered: 21%
Your are correct!

School board members have made up 21% (32) of the 149 total recall efforts we've identified this year against all categories of elected officials. City officials—like mayors and city councilors—have made up 70% (104) of all efforts so far.

Since 2019, city officials have tended to be the primary focus of most recall efforts. That changed in 2021 when school board members made up the most recall efforts at the mid-year point at 48% (with 126 recall efforts altogether). In 2022, school board recall efforts remained elevated. This year has seen the rate of school board recall efforts return to what we saw before the pandemic.

We will be bringing you our mid-year recall report in June, so look forward to that! In the meantime, you can check out our 2022 year-end report to catch up on last year's recall efforts.

Thanks for your response!
