This week's question was, How many states do not have a lieutenant governor?

You answered: 11.
The correct answer was 5.

There are five states without a lieutenant governor: Arizona, New Hampshire, Maine, Oregon, and Wyoming. But that could change in November depending on the outcome of the Arizona Proposition 131. If passed, the amendment would create the position of lieutenant governor in Arizona, who would be elected on a joint ticket with the governor starting in 2026.

Currently, 26 states elect their governors and lieutenant governors on the same ticket. Seventeen states elect the offices separately. In two states—Tennessee and West Virginia—the title of lieutenant governor is given to the state Senate President.

Thanks for your response!
