Chris Nation is the District 1 representative on the Marysville School District school board in Washington. First elected in 2009, Nation won a new term in the by-district general election on November 7, 2017.
Biography
Nation served on the Citizens Planning Committee prior to his election to the board. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park.[1][2]

Two of the five seats on the Marysville School District school board in Washington were up for by-district general election on November 7, 2017. A primary election was held for District 4 on August 1, 2017, because more than two candidates filed for the seat.
District 1 board member Chris Nation filed for re-election and defeated challenger Ray Sheldon, Jr. District 4 member Bruce M. Larson lost the general to newcomer Vanessa Edwards after both defeated Clarence Shaw in the primary.[3]

Funding
Nation opted for mini reporting in this election, according to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission.[4] Candidates who opted for this had to keep a record of their contributors and expenditures, but were not required to report them. If they raised and spent more than $5,000 in aggregate or received more than $500 from any one contributor, including themselves, they would have had to switch their filing status from mini to full reporting.[5]

Nation sought a second term on the board without opposition on November 5, 2013.
