The Colorado State Capital Location Measure was on the ballot as a legislatively referred state statute in Colorado on November 8, 1881.

Instead of selecting from a list of cities, voters were instructed to write their chosen location on the ballot in the following format: "For [the name of the place] as the seat of government." Denver, Colorado, received the most votes at 30,248, or 66.48% of the 45,497 votes cast.[1][2]
