Commission gives recommendations for Minnesota 4th District judge
May 13, 2010
Minnesota: Out of 34 applicants, three candidates emerged from the Minnesota Commission on Judicial Selection to fill the vacancy created by H. Pete Albrecht's retirement on the Fourth District Court. Dana Banwer, Frank J. Magill Jr., and Rachna Sullivan were recommended to Governor Tim Pawlenty. All are attorneys; Banwer and Magill in the public sector, Sullivan in private practice.[1] Though the governor accepted the recommendations of the Commission, he is not required to choose his appointee from this list. Once sworn in, the new judge must stand in the next general election more than one year after the appointment.[2]
